Wow!

What a day. Today I learned a valuable lesson.  It turns out, you can be kind and generous to someone everyday and that is not enough.  Apparently, you can do the right thing most of the time and those who don't will find some way to attack you for doing what you are supposed to do.  It also turns out that people you offer respect to often don't deserve it and are not willing to reciprocate it even if you do deserve it!  I am learning slowly but surely in life that being a good, kind, generous person often blows up in your face. It may not even be worth it to put forth the effort.  maybe I would be better off if I was a mean spirited and negative, hateful, spiteful person too...... but I am not, so I will continue to be kind and generous and do the right thing (or at least what I think is the right thing) despite what others do.  And if it blows up in my face then it does, but I can rest easy knowing no matter what, I did what was right.  No matter how anyone else may react or behave, I did what was right.  Besides, I believe these people eventually get what they deserve. Maybe it is not my job to give them consequences for their actions or hold them accountable.  Someday they'll get back what they have given. You reap what you sow people...... it may take time, but you always do!!!  SO, I will not be hurt by spiteful, mean actions, instead I will continue to shower them with kindness until they either see the cruelty in their actions or get what they deserve!!!  Mean People BE WARE!!!!

What's New

Let's see, what's new?

1.  I am worn out.... I am definitely going to be ready for retirement at the end of this year. I constantly counting down to Friday or Fall Break or Thanksgiving.... I am just always counting down.

2. I made a super yummy dinner tonight. I actually even impressed myself. I made my version of Mexican Lasagna and it was the bomb!!!  I will make it again for sure!!

3.  I am ready for the long weekend!!  We are going to watch MTSU play the season opener in South Carolina, Against Clemson. I cannot believe it is already football season!! I am super psyched!!!  I think we will have a blast.  GO BLUE!!!

4.  I have the guy coming for my carpet measurement whenever we managed to align our schedules... maybe Friday while Brent is golfing??  We'll see. I am ready to get it all scheduled and done ASAP.  It is almost fall break... so I guess it will be done soon.  I think my next project after that (maybe fall break) is going to be to wallpaper my Laundry room. I just love a wallpapered laundry room.... I think that would make me most happy.

hmmmm..... that's all I've got for now.... more soon, I Promise!!

I am a slacker

I know it has been FOREVER since I have written anything. I have no excuse, except I am a total slacker.  (At least I admit it)  Let's see, what has been going on since my last blog.  I am sure a lot has happened, but I can hardly remember.  This weekend was restful and nice. Brent and I went to eat with Mom and Norval Friday night at Toots.  Then Brent and I went on the hunt for Rob Zombie's Halloween. (we couldn't remember the ending) No one seemed to have it to rent so we had to buy it.... oh well, I guess we can watch it anytime we want now! LOL  Then Saturday, we relaxed a did a few chores, then we went to the Theatre to see Rob Zombie's Halloween 2.  The original Halloween 2 is my all time fav  horror flick and this was not even comparable.  It was ok, but it was VERY weird.  Not even a little scary!  oh well!!  Then today I did a few more chores, finished reading Tori Spelling's book, Mommywood, made some homemade soup, and watched Lifetime! LOL What a day!  I guess this will be another exhausting and long week.  We are going to South Carolina on Saturday to watch MTSU's opening football game against Clemson. That should be fun! I cannot believe it is football season again already!! Wow, time flies!  I guess we will be busy until Thanksgiving! LOL

That's all for now. I think I will go lay in bed and read some of my new book, My Horizontal Life, by Chelsea Handler. Supposed to be hilarious! I guess we'll see! More to come!

Busy, busy, busy

Let' see.... since my last post.....

1.  Had a very sad and difficult goodbye party for Taylor Bug.  I do not know what I will do when I have kids going to Kindergarten or leaving for college. Taylor is not my kid and it just about broke my heart! We are so proud of her though. Jim and Laura got her all settled into the dorm yesterday. She has already started sorority stuff.... she's only been there a day! WOW! I know she will do wonderful things in life, but it sure was hard to watch her go!!  watch out UT!

2.  Friday night, we went to Tomato Tomato with My Mom and Norval. It is one of our favorite places and it officially closed today! We thought we would go and get one more yummy dinner 1st. And it was yummy..... hot country ham dip, PBR fishbowls, greek salad, and yummy gourmet pizza. Now where will we go for great gourmet pizza??  Then Brent and I rented a couple of movies and came home. We watched Beyonce's movie, Obsessed.... it was good in a Lifetime kinda way!

3.  Saturday, I slept later than I have slept in ages..... 10:00. I was totally rejuvenated and on a role all day!! Brent and I mowed the yard and cleaned the lawn mower.  Then we spent several hours cleaning (desmoking) his car.  It took a lot of scrubbing, but you cannot tell he ever smoked in it. I guess he is a for sure non smoker now!  Good for him!!  Then we showered and went and had his tires rotated, went to Sam's, PeiWei (YUMMMMM), Publix, and Brent even got a hair cut. Then I got home in time to scrub up my house.  Still enough energy to watch the new Fast and Furious movie.  It was super good. It has two of my favorite, yummy hot actors, Vin Disel and Paul Walker!! So, needless to say, I thought it was a GREAT movie! LOL

4.  Today, I slept late again, 9:30 this time! Wow!  Finished a few chores, made some homeade meatballs, and have spent the rest of the day watching lifetime.

Wow.... what a super productive weekend.... and restful. Maybe I will feel great tomorrow when I go back to the Academy and mold little minds.  I am sure I will be exhausted again by the end of tomorrow!!

That's all for now!!

Exhaustion!!

I am completely worn out.  This working stuff is kicking my butt.... I cannot seem to get caught up. I have been there till after 4 and sometimes 5 every night. That is so unlike me. Do I complain at the start of every year??  I can't remember. I do think I have entered into a new kind of exhaustion that I have never encountered at this point. Surely I will get caught up this weekend.

Brent and I are still doing this non-smoking thing. It is really not that bad. I do not think about it unless I am bored, for the most part. Tonight Brent is a little grouchy.... he may be working through the hard part right now. I know we will be glad, so I am totally stickin to it!!!

I guess I will go this weekend and set up the measurement and consultation on the carpet. I better get on that if I plan to have it done over fall break.... how many more days till break? LOL

That's all I've got for now. I guess I will go take a little soak, grade some papers (maybe), and go to bed!  More to come!

Relaxing day

Just finished scrubbing up the downstairs..... boy those new floors are beautiful.  I am so glad that is done. Now I need to get on the carpet purchase ASAP! I dread the mess that will involve. I am sure it will be well worth the mess to have sparkly clean new carpet!

Now that I have scrubbed the downstairs, I think I will take a short sun/pool break. Then after I have restored my body's need for vitamin D, then I will resume with the upstairs. Maybe tomorrow can be a total day of rest if I am manage to accomplish this all.

I really should go shopping and take advantage of the tax free weekend....I just cant seem to make myself go out and deal with all of those crazy shoppers. I am thinking it is totally not worth the 10% it will save. I would rather spend the extra 10% and preserve my sanity for a little bit longer! LOL.... what's left of it!

I am struggling to get acclimated to going back to work. I feel eternally behind and tired as crap. Hopefully this week will feel a little more normal and on time!  I sure hope so!

That's all I've got for now.... More soon!  I hope all of my regular readers have a fantastic weekend!!

All done

Floors are finally all done and they look fantastic! I am glad they are done and all that mess is over. Remind me of this when I announce that I will be recarpeting the entire house in a couple of months!

Long day at work. I don't feel so great! I have been nauseated all day and really feel like crap. So, Off to bed for me.... more soon!

Seriously?

Well, I haven't been on here in a few days. There is so much to tell!

1.  Last Friday we had my Grandmother's 90th birthday party in Cleveland.  It was super nice. my Dad did a great job pulling it off.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The food was yummy.  And most importantly, Grandmother was happy! What an accomplishment! LOL

2.  We spent the rest of last weekend visiting Brent's parents and grandmother. That was nice.  Then I had to rush back for the funeral of a dear friend's sister! So sad.  Carla, you are in my prayers!

3.  Today they were supposed to come and install my hardwood flooring in the living room.  What a disaster. My Dad started calling me at work at 9 am with issues.  Apparently some of the floor joists were hung upside down causing then to crown.  No big deal for  carpet, but a nightmare for hardwood.  fortunately, the installer had a buddy who could come today and fix it. So, needless to say, my kids had a sub this afternoon and I busted ass home to take care of this and avoid the looming panic attack that was sure to hit if I continued to deal with this from work!!  The guy came and got right to work! He is GREAT and now my hero!  He has be planing the boards all day to get them even. now he is reinstalling the subfloor.

4. The Installation company said they could not get me rescheduled for hardwood until the 12th...... WHAT? I threw a fit. I have furniture spread all over the downstairs, sawdust EVERYWHERE, and I only have a subfloor.... she must have been joking! Turns out if you are persistent enough they are willing to call people to see if they want to make some extra money on their day off! LOL They will be here at 8 am tomorrow! Thank goodness!

I am hoping this story is going to have a happy ending...... I guess I will know more tomorrow!  PRAY for me!!

WOWO!

I am totally worn out today. I am sure tomorrow with the first full day will be worse. I had a great day today. My kids rock.... maybe the best class yet. I was impressed with how well they caught on to "my way!" I think it is gonna be a good year!!!

I am cooking dinner, taking a little soak in the tub, and going to bed!! I have a busy couple of days! More to come!

tough day

Tough day..... That's all. Just a tough day! Tomorrow will be a new day.... with new kids!

More tomorrow......

Monday, July 20, 2009

Just a day.....

I MISS THE POOL!!! It is really depressing being back at work! I got my role today. I really only know a couple of the kids. But from what I hear it is a good group of kids! I am excited to meet them all Wednesday.  It is still exhausting being there all day though. I think I got used to being lazy. It is amazing how much I have to do when I get home to keep up with my chores at home!

So, about the thousand dollar apple pie.....  It was quite good.  Brent did a great job and I know he was proud of himself. So, I guess it was worth all of the searching and purchasing in the long run! Shhhh..... Don't tell Brent! LOL

I went and had a spray tan yesterday to hide my soon arriving vitamin d deficiency! LOL  I usually hate them.  I actually like this one. I went to Suntan City.  It was the machine kind, which I am not used to.  They do four passes of tan and then two passes of hydration. I think I may love it. So, I might just keep on going. We'll see how it wears down over the next few days!

I think I will go take a nice long soak in the tub and then curl up under the covers. I have another long and busy day tomorrow. Sorry I am so boring right now.... I will get back to excitement and my rants on life again soon.

I will just say this. I think a lot of times people waste valuable time saying regretful things to one another. I know from personal experience that our time on this Earth is short and another day is not promised to anyone. It is important to remember how fast it can all end. It is even more important to shower the people we love with kindness and love for 2 really important reasons; so they will always know how we really feel instead of how we feel when we are angry or scared and so we will never have to live with regret about things that cannot be undone.  Be loving to the people you love, be generous to those who are generous to you, and be forgiving because you never know when you may need to be forgiven!!  So, for all the valuable people in my life who read this blog, I love you, even though you already know.

That is all I have tonight! More soon!

Great Day

We had a great day today! We went and picked up our hardwood flooring for the living room. Now it just has to acclimate to the temp in the house for 72 hours and then they will call me to install it. I will be so glad to have it done (6 years later LOL)

Then Brent and I went to Cool Springs to get the rest of his provisions for the thousand dollar apple pie, as I am calling it.  We went to Pottery Barn to look at rugs. Then on to Williams Sonoma (one of my fav shops in the world) to get a very special tart pan for the thousand dollar apple pie. They were having a great sale so I managed to pick up a few other little things, I had to have. then I noticed a great sale across the hall at Coldwater Creek.  I found several tops I needed to have for work of course. Then on to Buca di Beppo for late lunch!! YUMMY as always.  Next it was on to Whole Foods to get some tapioca flour (for the thousand dollar pie), which is apparently only available locally there!  So, I took the opportunity to pick up lots of organic meat and veggies while I was there!

When we got home, Brent got to work fast and furiously on the thousand dollar apple pie crust. So, it looks like tomorrow we will know if it tastes like a thousand dollar pie! LOL I am sure it will be great. Brent is quite the dessert chef!!! If his one of a kind, frequently requested by all cheesecakes are any indication, it should be the best apple pie ever! LOL

I took the quite time as a chance to do a little reading. I started reading "Stories from Candyland," which appears to be a lengthy rebuttle to Tori spelling's book "sTori Telling." It is a pretty good and super easy read! I guess next I will check out "Mommywood," Tori's new book.

Mom and Norval are coming over for roast (In my new Le Creuset french oven) and thousand dollar apple pie tomorrow. So, I think I will lounge at the pool all day and then come home and get to cookin!  I am still trying to pretend I am on break, even though break is so over now. I will have kids starting Wednesday! I am interested to find out who I will have a get started on the year with them. I am sure this last year will be a great one! I am going to make sure of it!

So, I guess that is all for now! More tomorrow!

back to work

Well, I went back to work today. I would like to say it was the most terrible thing that has ever happened..... but it really wasn't. Don't get me wrong, it was no fun.  But, it was tolerable! I am sure I can make it this last year! I really love seeing the kids and some of the people I work with. I will miss the kids.  It is sweet when they come for registration because they are so excited to see you after a month and a half away. I will miss those things! It was not the same without Carla next door, that made me sad.  I cried a little once when she came to see me and she was a little teary. We will survive though. It is hard when you teach bc you have little adult interaction all day. It is very emotionally stressful and you get used to relying on the people next door all day. you become really close. So, it is always sad when someone has to move!  Oh well, this will be a nice group for her to work with and I think she will enjoy it eventually!

I am totally pooped... who knew what a difference it would make getting up at 6 instead of 9 or 10.  I missed my hour of drinking coffee and watching the View!  I guess I will go back to work and try again tomorrow! LOL  I guess in this crappy economy I should be really thankful to have a job instead of counting down the months until it ends!

My Mom was telling me how much Norval really wants to go to Lake Tahoe in the winter and ski and stuff and apparently really wants us to go. I am really thinking I could love the idea of spending Christmas at Lake Tahoe.... that might be just what I need.  I have been in a little funk for several months now(in case you haven't noticed LOL). I am not sure what my deal is, but
I know I need to snap out of it. I think last year was a lot I was not ready for. The baby thing was tough. And losing Honky was horrific. My Aunt has been struggling with breast cancer. Although she is doing pretty good. Then a good friend was diagnosed with Cancer. It has just been a whole lot of bad off and on for a while. I am usually really good about dealing with things and moving on, but all of this has been a little tougher and affected me more than things usually do. I am working really hard on getting back to me again. I guess it is harder than I realized it might be. I know I need to get started thinking about the baby thing again.... and I will soon. I really want o have a baby so much.... I am just a little skeptical of suffering that kind of loss again. I guess I better toughen up and quit being a baby, huh? I just need to start making some positive changes and start finding ways to feel like me again (the me who can shake off the stress a little better!)

Oh well, that's enough whining from me for one night. I think I am really unhappy about my summer being over!! LOL Can you tell?  I guess I will go take a nice long soak in the tub ( maybe even with the jets on) LOL  And Relax and wind down for bed! I am sure I will never go to sleep tonight. Getting back on schedule is tough!!

That's all for now! Tomorrow's FRIDAY!!!! Yay! I will be in a great mood for sure the next time I blog!!!

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

well, it's official, this is my last day of summer break!  I was going to try to spend the day at the pool, but I am not so sure mother nature is going to comply!  oh well, surely I have reached my vitamin D quota for the year! LOL

So, my husband has decided he wants to be a non-smoker. I am glad. I would really like us to live to be 100!  I have no problem not smoking, but it is hard when he smokes. So, they are calling him in some Chantix.... so non-smoking is gonna be the new smoking! LOL  I think it will make him feel better and be around longer, so I am all for it!!

I just want to get on a little rant about marriage... not mine, other people's! LOL  I think all of these people have this warped image of what marriage is supposed to be, so when it turns out not to be what they think, they quit and run for divorce court.  Here is what I have to say about it.

1. Marriage is not some sort of daily fairy tale.  And for those of you saying, "but mine is," it really isn't.  If it seems that way right now, you are in for a real shake up when the real world sticks it's ugly little head in.

2.  Marriage is not about one person getting what they want all the time. It is about a 50/50 partnership. If you are still workin a 70/30 system, you are screwed.

3.  Marriage is not a competition of who's is better or who's life is more glamorous..... marriage is not glamorous... it is everyday!!

4.  When the going gets tough, you cannot quit.  The grass really isn't greener on the other side. I am not sure what all of these people are thinking.  It seems like all anybody wants to do these days is give up and go have a good time.... sometimes what you have is great and you are too damn stupid to see it!!!

5.  The first year of marriage is not all rosey like people want you to think. Although it is mostly wonderful, it requires a great deal of adjustment and work to make it a good fit......

6.  The people around you have to be with you as a couple.... not for one of you and on your side. All the people you surround yourself with have to be in support of you as a couple... there are no sides to be taken in a marriage. And although it may make you feel vindicated that someone is "on your side," it is really not good for your marriage. If they are "on your side," they are against your partnership!!!

So here is what I have to say to sum it up.  When you make a commitment before God and the people you love to be married to another person, you are making a commitment to tough it out through good and bad times..... unless you are abused or cheated on.... then by all means get the hell out!!!  And about that.... Cheating.  Here is my take on cheating. There are two kinds of cheaters. Those who cheat because they are cheaters, and those who cheat because they have lost there way. I believe that sometimes people get lost in their marriage and may stray off course and cheat once.  I think those people may need to do that in order to realize their love for the person they are with... if you are this person and have done this, and it makes you realize where you are meant to me, then leave it in the past and move on with a new commitment to your spouse.  If it really was just a reality check, do not destroy the person you love by telling them.... if you can move forward and be committed your spouse forever... do it! After all, we are all human!

Now, for all of these people in fairy tale land. Those Disney like fairy tales that we grow up dreaming of are not reality.  Reality is the everyday.  Some days are going to be great and some just ok and others really crappy.  The trick is to remember why you fell in love with that person and keeping on loving them.  Real love is day to day. It is working in the yard, and playing with your kids, and watching movies, and paying bills.  Sometimes we misplace our fairy tale. I have decided the trick to a healthy lasting marriage is finding ways to keep falling in love all over again.  It can be as simple as a comment or doing a project together.  But, you have to find a way to keep falling in love. It is not ok to just love a person.... you have to be in love. These are two completely seperate things!  So, the thing is, it may not be "work" to be married, but it does require an effort and a commitment everyday, not just when things are good!!

So, that is my rant on marriage. I am so sick of people giving up or constantly bitching about their marriages.... all that time spent searching for something to be perfect or bitching when it's not could be better spent finding quality ways to renew your commitment to each other!  And for those of you who are not married.... think about who you are committing to and do you really want to wake up next to them everyday. Cause if you are not sure, you cannot do it. You cannot get married as a result of convenience or circumstance. It won't work if you do!!!

I am glad I chose the person I chose.... for all of his faults I love him. I love him everyday.  I want to choke him sometimes, but I always love him.  I love falling in love with him every chance I get. I love being in a crowd of people and catching a glance from across the room that makes me melt into him again. I love when he acts stupid and goofy and makes me laugh. I love when he really irritates me and then acts silly to make forget he irritated me.  I love the way he looks at me when I sing. I love the little glimmer I get from him when I know in that moment he is falling in love with me again. I love when he walks in the door after being at work all day. I love sitting in the garage all sweaty after we have worked outside together. I love watching him cut up with my Mom and picking at her. I love the way he laughs like a little kid when something is really funny.  For all the times I have wondered why, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he really loves me.... not in a fairy tale kind of way, but everyday!!!  So, people if you have not found this kind of love.... I am sorry. Start searching now and hopefully you will find it. I wish everyone could have 1/2 of the happiness I have found.... because it is really something!

So that's it.... that is what I have to say about marriage. For those of you thinking this is about you, it's probably not. I am just really sick of watching marriage crumble because people a looking for something that may be right in front of their faces!!!

That's all for today, my last day of break!  Back to reality tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

I spent the day with my Mom yesterday at Vanderbilt visitng a friend of hers. It is so sad she has renal cancer. I seems like everybody you come across these days has cancer.  It is just so sad and scary. It was a nice visit though. She has a really good attitude despite having a tumor cut off her brain a few days ago. I guess attitude is everything when you are sick like that. Hers is good.... so maybe that helps!

I have been trying to get my life back in order to go back to work. I am so not ready. I am just trying to convince myself that it is not that bad and I can do anything for a few months.... it is just hard to go and me trapped in a building when it is 90 degrees and sunny outside! oh well, this is the life I picked! LOL.  I am sure I would be bored at home anyway (probably not). I am just not sure I am ready for all the miscommunication and drama that I am afraid I will be facing! Oh well, such is life!

I am going to lay by the pool with Emily and pretend it is June and we are not two days away from the schoolyear! The sunshine will certainly help!

I am waiting to hear back on the estimate for hardwood for my living room and get the install all set up. I cannot believe I have waited six years to take care of this when it drives me crazy. I will be glad when it is installed and done! I am sure it will look a thousand times better. Then on to deciding what carpet I want to put upstairs and getting that all installed. I really dread the part where we have to move all the furniture out~ that part does not thrill me..... but it will be worth it to have some nice, fresh, new carpet!!! I may have to wait till fall break so I do not go crazy from all the mess. I am not sure I can jack up my entire upstairs and go to work without freaking out! we will see though! Maybe it wont be that bad. I should get it done soon before I am really hating on this carpet (more than i already do) LOL.  Having a house seems to be a never ending project. I can see how all of these people let their houses go to crap.... I just can't do it!

I wish Brent and I could sell our house and move to some remote little island and set up a tiki bar on the beach or something... wouldn't that be heaven. Maybe we will one day! LOL

Oh well, I guess I am off to basque in the sun......

Whew!

What a busy couple of days I have had! I have been going nonstop to prepare for my friend Sandra's wedding. I was really nervous that we would not pull it all off, but miraculously we did!  I was a little skeptical that we could convert her back yard to a simple serene wedding backdrop.  But, somehow it all came together! It sprinkled a little off and on most of the day making it really difficult to get the tables and flowers situated under the tents.  Luckily it stopped just in time to prepare everything.  The tables were very pretty. I used white table clothes and centered hot pink broadcloths in the centers in a diamond shape. Then centered small bud vases filled with Eucalyptus (sp) and boxwood with yellow, hot pink and orange roses and lilies.  Then there were two round cakes and I decorated them with pink hydrangea blossoms and multi colored rose petals.  I made Sandra a bouquet of hydrangea, Eucalyptus, boxwood,  multi colored roses and lilies. It was spectacular if i do say so myself!!  The food table was decked out with buffet servers warmed with sterno, acrylic bowls filled with potato salad, etc. Then I sprinkled tortilla chip all around the food. It looked good and was quite functional.  BBQ is always a good way to go for an easy backyard wedding.  The only little issue was when the county commissioner who was going to marry them was not there and we were five minutes out from ceremony. I was all set to get up there and perform a fake ceremony for the guests( Not enough time to get ordained online, but I should go ahead and do it for future reference!) Fortunately, he arrived just in the nick of time! I was stressin that for sure!!  But, he got there and performed the shortest ceremony in history.  It was beautiful and Sandra and Mike were very happy.   So, all in all it worked out Great!!!! I am glad it is over!! I will definately be charging for these services from now on!!!  It is a lot of work and stress!!! but, I am super glad I did it. Sandra and Mike were very appreciative!  And my WONDERFUL husband was super helpful as usual! we had a great time together.  I am super lucky. I hope Sandra and Mike can be half as happy and lucky in love as Brent and I are.  I some times forget just how lucky we are.... Brent seems to always swoop in, in the last inning and remind me though!!  He is a real trooper!!  Lucky me!!!

So, today I plan to rest and do a few chores.  I guess I will spend my last 4 days of break baking in the sun, (if the weather will let me) and getting my life back in order to return to work. So sad!!!  Summer break has been WAY to short!!!  Oh well, at least I get a summer break I guess!!

That's all for today!

Pooped

Had a great day yesterday. I went to the pool and got to spend some great time with Andrea and Joshua and Alex.  They were precious!  Alex is just too sweet.  Then dinner and drinks at 5 senses with Andrea, Kelli, and Darla.  Also great! My fav restaurant with some of my fav people.

Today was a a different story.  I got up and went to work for a retreat.  Ok, seriously I am not sure how I am going to go back there next week. I am pooped. It was a little sad too.... I really missed Carla being with us. I am not sure I am going to like going back there without her next door.  It was fun catching up with the other girls but just not the same without Carla! Sad!! I did get to see Beth for a minute and that was good, but only for a minute. We have much more catching up to do. I am just not sure I can handle another year. Oh well, I am in now so I will figure it out. I would be a great housewife that is for sure!!!

I think I am going to take a long bath and go cuddle up with my sweet husband.... and try to pretend my break just started!!!  Then I think I will sleep extra late tomorrow, drink lots of coffee, and spend a relaxing day at the pool tomorrow. I guess I need to get rested up. I am going to be a BUSY BUSY girl Friday and Saturday trying to coordinate Sandra and Mike's wedding. I am sure I will have to hibernate Saturday night and all day Sunday when it is over.

That's all for now!

Monday, July 6, 2009

well, let's see.... Today i accomplished VERY little. I slept late. Brent and I watched two movies and played The Price is Right on the wii last night! LOL So, I then drank coffee for an extended amount of time. Then I watched Brent hang a fan in the garage... that took a lot of effort on my part.  Then I laid on the coach and read sTori Telling by Tori spelling. (Cute Book)  Then I mowed with Brent. Then I finally showered at about 4:00 and ran to the store.  I made a salad while Brent cooked steaks, while also sipping wine.  And now I am pooped... I really did nothing today. No reason to be pooped..... hmmmm..... what a non productive day!!  Oh well, I guess I will bake at the pool tomorrow. Maybe then I will feel productive! LOL

Great 4th, sad day in Nashville

We had a great day yesterday celebrating the birthday of our nation.  We spent the day at the Holland's pool. We had a beach reunion and a yummy beach shrimp boil.  We got to play with the puppies and the kiddos and just had a blast.  Then we jetted outta there in a flash to go pick up my Mom and Norval at the airport. They had a blast in Napa, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe. I am so jealous. They brought us a yummy bottle of wine and a beautiful outdoor copper prism. I am excited to get it hung up!  Then we rushed home to grill burgers (in the rain).  we had a break in the rain long enough to see the Murfreesboro fireworks shooting off across the neighborhood. Lots friends showed up to watch and visit.  Mom and Norval even made it with Jetlag~  Altogether a very fun day!

However, a sad day for Nashville with the discovery of Steve McNair's apparent murder suicide. I feel terrible for his wife and 4 children. What a horrible day for them.  Also, a tough day for Titan's fans and the Nashville community, where McNair was a great community figure.  So much scandal and death lately in the celeb world. Very tragic! Makes you really grateful for your simple life!!!!

Anyway.... Gonna spend a great day with my honey. Maybe we will go and look at some hardwood for the living room. I have to get off my butt and get that done. I have put it off for 6 years now. I am really starting to get irritated with me! LOL I guess I should accomplish something at my house before I am locked up in a classroom again! only a week and 3 days left! What will I do without being able to lay at the pool everyday?  I can do it.... it is just one more schoolyear ( or less...LOL) I can do it!!!!

Why?

I had a pretty good day today. I borrowed my Mom's Convertible (since she is on vaca) and went to Hendersonville to have lunch with my honey. It was super relaxing to drive down the highway at high speeds with the top down.  I need some quiet time like that. So that was good. I think Brent was glad I went to Hendersonville to see him.

Then I came home and scrubbed my nasty house. I am not sure why it takes so long. I spent 4 hours just scrubbing downstairs. That is ridiculous.  WHY, oh WHY do I spend hours cleaning like a maid in order for it to get dirty again and then I have to clean it again? I might like it to stay clean for a long time so that I do not have to scrub again. I am just not sure why it has be so much damn work!  And while I am on this.... let me just give some advice. Although they are beautiful, Brazillian Cherry hardwoods are NOT the way to go. They show every little speck of dust.  Oh well, that is the price we pay I guess!

Ok, I guess I am off to finish my chores and go have dinner with Brent. Maybe after that I can finally finish this book.... it seems to be the never ending book. It is so good, I just can't seem to read it fast enough!

GRRRRR......

I was under the impression that everyone understood I AM ON BREAK! I am just not really sure why someone would think it is ok to call and wake me up before 8 while I AM ON BREAK!  unless, of course, it is an emergency.  I am in no mood to chit chat with anyone at 7 something in the morning. Now I am grouchy and feel like I got up to go to work...... which is another problem....  I am already completely stressed and getting annoying work calls during my summer break. I  just don't know if I can handle it. I am so done already that having this BS infiltrate my summer break is really irritating to me. I was so upset about it last night, bitching and whining about it, Brent's answer...... just quit then.  I think there is something wrong with me. My response to him was that quitting at the beginning of the year does not fit into my plan.  I am weirdo..... who cares about my 5 year plan.... I really do not think a few months are gonna make a difference.  But, I apparently am seriously locked into a 5 year plan! LOL Imagine that. I just know I am gonna go back and TOTALLY regret it. I guess I will just have to tough it out. I guess I won't get to complain to Brent if I am miserable. He will say, "I told you to quit."  I guess we will see. But for now I am not diggin the work BS!!!

I guess I will go spend the day at the pool basking all my cares away.  I can at least enjoy these last 3 weeks. Maybe I will just ignore the work calls for the last 2 1/2 weeks of my break.  I am pretty sure when I chose teaching, I thought it was less BS than another things.  Hmmmm, shows what I know.  I know most people do not get 1/2 the phones calls at home that I do or put up with as much obscure crap.   Seriously people be sweet to your child's teacher.  Who cares how much they get paid or don't get paid, they have to put up with more shit than you know~

Ok, so this is my first blog. I cannot promise that I will update this regularly, but I will sure try.  I spend time checking all the things my friends have to say on their blogs, so I thought I might give it a shot.

So.... Let's see. Just got back from beach vacation last week. Had a great time as always.  I have really gotten used to my traveling group. I am not sure that I am necessarily cut out for vacationing with other people, but this group seems to travel well together. I think this was our 8th year traveling to Destin with them. It was a blast!

I have just barely 3 weeks left off work. I really dread going back..... but I figure I can do anything for a few months. I think it will be much easier knowing this is my last year there. I am definatly ready for a change. I am glad I at least used my degree for a few years, but I think 8 is my limit. I am totally ready to find a new adventure for my life.  I am glad we are in a good place where I am able to do this without feeling guilty about it.  I just hope I am doing the right thing!  Kinda Scary!!!

I had a great weekend. I had a small bridal shower for a dear friend. It was small, but nice. I am glad that is over. I went to the movies with my sweet hubby to see Angels and Demons (based on the Dan Brown book) Great movie. Much better than it's prequel, The DaVinci code.  Which may be the worst book to movie I have EVER see.

I just read 2 really  great books by Tatiana Bongkompani.  Guilding Lily and Hedge Fund Wives. I totally recommend both. Last night  I started reading the Memory Keeper's daughter. It is already very upsetting to me. Brent says I am not allowed to read because I get obsessed and focus all my energy into reading a book until I finish it. Imagine that.... me obsessed! LOL

So, I guess that is all I've got for now. I will try to make myself do this frequently......
